About Us

Founded in 2022 by friends and partners Lauren VanCleave & Jason Searby, Wine Shop has over 35 years of combined wine, spirits and hospitality and retail management experience.

Wine Shop is a no-rules wine bar and boutique shop in New Albany’s Downtown. We care (about wine, about you, and about New Albany). We believe a wine bar can be a place for the community to connect, collaborate, and innovate. We also believe in the power of wine to tie us to the small business owners who choose to make high quality socially responsible wine, to women who are doing shit right, and to our world. Think that sounds like a bunch of nonsense? Come hang out and let us show you what we do. 

The Deets

We’re a bar. We are not a winery or a tasting room. You know how sometimes you go out for a beer or grab some cocktails? Maybe you get a snack, maybe you relax with friends, or commiserate about a coworker or get some advice on a problem? It’s like that, but with wine. We serve wine, a limited selection of local and craft beers and several non alcoholic beverage options.

We don’t take reservations, but love big groups so come on over. We don’t have a full dinner menu (but our cheese & meat boards are delicious, our meatballs and cheesecake are made from scratch, and our foie gras potato chips come all the way from Spain). We offer curated flights flights and love to book private group tastings. We’re a small bar (60 seats inside, 40 outside), so plan to share space with your friends and neighbors. Most of them are really rad.

We do have bomb-ass wine, badass women and queer bartenders who know a thing or two about a thing or two, more than two decades of experience in hospitality and wine, and a zero-pretension attitude that guarantees you’ll get the best of what we’ve got, no matter what.
